While JoeysCoat and I will be in Alameda,
California the first Sunday in November, French Grain Sack Joey will be on an
adventure of its own. The special “Continental”
coats have been invited to join Dani Davis, of Patine, at the non-profit
organization, Summit League’s, Homes for the Holiday event November 29 and
30.
The event, a biennial fundraising house tour,
features three homes in the Saratoga/Los Gatos area in Northern California - “Top professional
decorators and floral designers will donate their time and talent to enhance
the beauty of these homes for the holiday season.” This year there is an added “Marketplace”
featuring jewelry, artwork, unique gifts and accessories for purchase directly
from the vendors and artists.
Established in 1957, The Summit League is a
non-profit organization consisting of 50 Active Members and over 60 Sustaining
Members who are committed to raising funds in the areas of education, health,
welfare and the arts. Over the past 50 years, more than a million dollars has
been raised for charitable organizations in the Santa Clara Valley. www.summit-league.org
The 2012 House Tour proceeds will benefit the POWER Program,
initiated by Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence. For 40 years, Next Door
has provided comprehensive services in our community to help victims of
domestic violence and their children. The innovative POWER Program (Proud of
Wanting Equal Relationships) uses social media and peer mentoring to reach out
to teens with a prevention and education campaign to "stop the violence
before it starts." The mission of Next Door is to "end domestic
violence in the moment and
for all time." www.nextdoor.org
